Okay. As near as I can figure out, Broken Peach is a cover band. A cover band that takes pop standards and rock classics, glams them up, rocks them up, and performs them while wearing weird costumes. That’s all I’ve got.
But man, when they take these songs and ramp them into overdrive … I want to hear more. Trust me on this.
I mean, how much can you do with ABBA’s “Waterloo”? Add some rock guitars and girl-group harmonies … and wow.
And if you’re going to cover a-ha’s “Take On Me,” why not do it while wearing full leather and 80’s kick dancing?
Hey, guess what – if you dress up as 1950’s carhop waitresses, why not cover the classic 1950’s song from 1978, “You’re The One That I Want”? Sure.
And Shania Twain better look behind her shoulder … look who’s arrived – four catsuit-wearing singers and their rock band in tow.
And if you haven’t gathered it yet, Broken Peach has no problem mixing together two different songs into a kick-ass medley, because if you can combine the Temptations’ “Get Ready” with the Kinks’ “You Really Got Me,” you got something going here.
But the big shots for Broken Peach are their Halloween mashups, because if you can blend Kiss’ “I Was Made For Loving You” with Blondie’s “Call Me,” and then do it in skeleton gear …
Hey, here’s one – Soft Cell’s “Tainted Love” with Marilyn Manson’s take on Eurythmics’ “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This).” Sweet Jesus.
So yeah, if you need some rock music to get you over the hump in hump day … Broken Peach is a nice bit of a snack. For sure.
